Mirra Andreeva wins French Open, becomes youngest women's champion since 1992

Ukrainian teenager Mirra Andreeva captured the French Open women’s singles title, defeating Poland’s Magdalena Chwalinska 6‑3, 6‑2 in the final. At 19, she became the youngest champion at Roland Garros since Monica Seles in 1992, marking her first Grand Slam victory.

Andreeva reached the final after a dominant semi‑final win over fellow Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, ending Kostyuk’s 17‑match winning streak with a 6‑1, 6‑3 result. Playing as a neutral athlete due to restrictions on Russian and Ukrainian competitors, Andreeva could not display her national flag. After sealing the match point, she “fell to her knees on the clay court in celebration,” underscoring the emotional significance of the triumph for the 19‑year‑old.
