Mirra Andreeva wins Roland Garros, tipped for world No.1

Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva, 19, captured her first Grand Slam title at the 2026 Roland Garros, defeating Poland's Maya Chwalinska 6‑3, 6‑2 in the final. The victory prompted comparisons with American star Coco Gauff, who also won her first major at 19.

Former Gauff coach Brad Gilbert praised Andreeva’s performance, forecasting that she could reach the world No. 1 ranking by 2026. The Russian, born in Krasnoyarsk, rose through the junior ranks, trained in Moscow and at a tennis academy in Cannes, and has benefited from guidance by former champion Conchita Martínez. She plans to compete in upcoming WTA events in Berlin and Bad Homburg before Wimbledon.
