Russian Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva withdraws from Berlin WTA 500

World No. 6 Mirra Andreeva, who captured her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, announced she will not compete in the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin. Her team cited the need for additional rest and a controlled transition to grass after the two‑week major, saying, "My team and I have decided to take more time to rest, recover and better prepare for grass," Andreeva posted on social media.

Instead of Berlin, Andreeva will begin her grass‑court build‑up at the Bad Homburg event the week of June 21, before heading to Wimbledon. The Berlin draw will still feature eight top‑10 players, led by Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, after withdrawals also included Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic.

The decision reflects a common post‑Grand Slam strategy among top players to prioritize recovery and surface adaptation ahead of the season’s marquee event, Wimbledon.
