Mirtha Legrand discharged from hospital after respiratory illness

Argentine television host Mirtha Legrand, 99, was discharged from the Sanatorio Mater Dei in Buenos Aires on Tuesday afternoon following a nearly three-week hospitalization. Legrand had been admitted on September 18 due to a respiratory condition, specifically identified in some reports as pneumopathy.

This hospitalization followed a separate, shorter stay earlier in September for bronchitis. During her recent absence from her television programs, her granddaughter, Juana Viale, assumed hosting duties for her shows on El Trece.

Medical Director Dr. Enrique Echagüe confirmed that Legrand showed favorable clinical evolution, having completed antibiotic treatments and kinesiology rehabilitation. She returned home accompanied by her family to continue her recovery at her residence. Her return to television remains subject to professional medical authorization.
