Mirzapur: The Movie receives ‘A’ certificate ahead of September release

The film adaptation of the popular web series ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its September 4, 2026, theatrical release. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, the film has a runtime of approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes.

To secure the adult rating, the CBFC mandated several modifications. These include the reduction of intimate scenes by approximately 35 seconds and the muting or replacement of various abusive words and caste references. Notably, the board did not request cuts to the film’s violent or gory sequences.

The movie features returning cast members Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu, alongside new additions like Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan. The plot is set to expand on untold chapters from the first season of the series. Advance bookings have already commenced, with ticket prices in major Indian cities reaching up to ₹2,000.
