Misa and Nevola valleys mark anniversary of 2022 floods

The Misa and Nevola valleys mark the fourth anniversary of the devastating flood that occurred on September 15, 2022. The disaster resulted in 13 deaths, dozens of displaced residents, and approximately 2 billion euros in damages. The extreme weather event saw rainfall exceeding 400 mm in some areas within hours, causing rivers to overflow and break embankments, carrying debris and vehicles toward coastal cities like Senigallia.

In response to local discussions regarding infrastructure, the Mayor of Serra de’ Conti, Silvano Simonetti, issued a clarification regarding the Via Cone bridge. He stated that the bridge was not reconstructed but rather remained standing after the flood, unlike other structures upstream. The administration has restored the bridge's parapets and reopened it to traffic with a weight limit of 3.5 tons to alleviate pressure on the provincial road through Osteria. A new bridge is planned for the site, and current usage is subject to weather alerts to ensure public safety.
