Mishel Mancheno outlines legislative agenda for Ecuador's National Assembly

Mishel Mancheno of the ADN party has resumed her role as President of the National Assembly of Ecuador following a maternity leave. Upon her return, she outlined a legislative roadmap for the remaining ten months of her administration, which runs until May 2027.

Mancheno’s proposed agenda is structured around three primary pillars: security and the fight against corruption, human development and institutional modernization, and sustainable economic growth with legal certainty for investment.

Under the security pillar, the Assembly intends to prioritize the ‘Anti-Mafia Law’ to strengthen state capacity against organized crime, alongside reforms to the Organic Integral Penal Code (COIP). Other legislative priorities include reforms to the Organic Code of the Judicial Function and laws aimed at preventing the recruitment of minors and combating human trafficking.
