MISIA Speaks at Tokyo National Museum Exhibition, Sends Wishes for Kumamoto Earthquake Victims

Japanese singer MISIA attended a press conference at the Tokyo National Museum’s special exhibition "Kūkai and the Treasures of Shingon" marking the 1250th anniversary of the birth of Buddhist monk Kōbō Daishi. Acting as the audio‑guide narrator, she described the impact of viewing the actual cultural assets, including the monumental Five Great Powerful Bodhisattvas statue and the national treasure Yakushi Nyorai seated statue, noting the texture, colour and expression of each piece.

MISIA also recalled having performed a live concert at Kongōbu‑ji on Mount Kōya, saying that music can serve as a form of prayer. She expressed heartfelt concern for the victims of the April 28 Kumamoto earthquake, wishing them safety and hoping warm thoughts and assistance are close at hand.

Her remarks highlighted both the cultural significance of the exhibition and the ongoing humanitarian concerns in Kumamoto.
