Misilmeri man arrested for alleged sexual abuse of minor nephew

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in Misilmeri, Italy, on charges of sexual violence against his minor nephew. The victim was under the age of 10 at the time of the alleged incidents.

The investigation was initiated by the Carabinieri following a report from a school principal. The child reportedly found the courage to disclose the abuse to a teacher, which triggered the formal investigation by the Misilmeri and Marineo stations, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Termini Imerese.

Based on what investigators described as “grave evidence of guilt,” a judge issued a precautionary detention order. The suspect, a local resident, has been placed under house arrest with the use of an electronic monitoring device.
