Latin American nations manage earthquake recovery and reconstruction

Multiple nations are managing the long-term consequences of significant seismic activity. In Colombia, President Abelardo De la Espriella has initiated reconstruction efforts following an earthquake on August 10. The government is coordinating with the private sector, including donations from Eternit, and has implemented banking measures to reduce interest rates for affected homeowners.

In Venezuela, authorities have partnered with Miyamoto International to manage the removal of over three million tons of debris following a major earthquake in June. The agreement focuses on structural evaluations and debris recycling in the Litoral Central region. Meanwhile, in the Táchira state, residents face ongoing housing and road emergencies due to geological faults.

In Venezuela's El Junquito region, families living in homes marked as unsafe due to previous earthquakes have received temporary wooden housing from the NGO Techo, as they await permanent state-led solutions.
