Misiones Province upgrades power supply with new transformer stations

Enersa is constructing a new 13.2 kV distribution line at the El Octavo substation in the rural area of Gualeguay. The work adds equipment, underground medium‑voltage cables and upgraded control systems, expanding the capacity and reliability of electricity service for local users and supporting the province’s broader investment plan to modernise the grid.

Governor Hugo Passalacqua inspected the new Garupá transformer station (132/33/13.2 kV), which is about 95 % complete. The facility, financed by Energía de Misiones, includes a 44 MVA main transformer with a second unit planned, allowing total capacity to reach 88 MVA. It will receive high‑voltage power from the San Isidro station and distribute it via new 33 kV and 13.2 kV lines to Garupá, Candelaria and surrounding communities, aiming to reduce overloads and outages. Passalacqua said, “Es una obra fundamental porque no fue pensada solo para solucionar una necesidad de hoy, sino también para el mañana, para las futuras generaciones.”
