Misiones records highest fuel prices in Argentina

Fuel prices in Argentina show significant regional disparities, with Misiones recording the highest cost for super gasoline. According to June data from the Secretariat of Energy, a liter of super gasoline in Misiones reached $2,224, while in Tierra del Fuego it cost $1,701, creating a gap of $523 per liter.

Several factors contribute to these price differences. Misiones faces higher costs due to its distance from refineries and dispatch terminals, increasing transportation and distribution expenses. Additionally, provincial and municipal taxes play a major role. In contrast, Tierra del Fuego and other Patagonian provinces benefit from Law 23,966, which provides a differential tax treatment by exempting them from the Liquid Fuel Tax.

While super gasoline prices varied widely, the national average for the month was approximately $2,099 per liter. For diesel (gasoil grade 2), Jujuy recorded the highest prices, whereas the City of Buenos Aires was among the most affordable jurisdictions outside of the Patagonian tax regime.
