Miskolc faces critical shortage of state-funded dermatology services
Access to state-funded dermatology services in Miskolc has become extremely difficult. According to reports, the online system offered no available appointments in the county seat at the beginning of August.
Patients seeking state-subsidized care are often forced to travel 50 to 70 kilometers to find an opening. This shortage is attributed to staffing issues at the local Szent Ferenc Tagkórház, which had only two specialists working there as of the beginning of the year. While private clinics are an alternative, they require waiting times of several weeks and typically cost between 20,000 and 30,000 HUF per examination. Medical experts note that delays in treatment pose significant risks, particularly for patients dealing with sexually transmitted infections or malignant changes.
