Misleading videos circulate regarding Indian Army involvement in protests
Social media posts are circulating false claims regarding the Indian Army's involvement in recent protests. One viral video, which depicts uniformed personnel assaulting an individual, is being falsely presented as an incident in Delhi involving the Indian Army and Lieutenant General Rajesh Sethi during demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Investigations reveal the footage actually originated from South Kashmir in 2017.
Another circulating video claims to show an Indian Army crackdown on Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) members that resulted in two deaths and several injuries. Fact-checking efforts indicate this video actually depicts security personnel removing Jamia Millia Islamia University students from the campus during a hunger strike on October 17. There are no verified reports of CJP members being arrested or killed during the alleged October 23 incident.
