Miss South Africa shifts focus to social reform and local impact
The Miss South Africa Organisation has announced a major structural pivot for its 2026 pageant. Under the new leadership of the Motsepe Group of Companies, the competition will no longer send its winners to participate in international pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss World, or Miss Supranational.
Instead, the organization is shifting its focus toward localized social development and leadership. The new framework utilizes the Empower Youth Africa (EYA) platform to drive grassroots impact. Rather than concentrating resources on a single winner competing abroad, the initiative aims to invest in all 19 finalists to address societal issues through five strategic pillars: youth employment, entrepreneurship, mental and physical health, education access, and Pan-African civic engagement.
Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Patron and Chairperson of the Miss South Africa Organisation, stated that the goal is to cultivate a generation of women equipped to lead and drive meaningful change within the continent.
