Miss Universe Brazil celebrates 72 years with 2026 edition and TV return

Miss Universe Brazil marked its 72nd anniversary in late June, announcing a new 2026 edition to be held on 25 July at the Komplexo Templo in São Paulo. The pageant will return to open‑air television on Record after years on cable, with streaming also planned, reconnecting the event with a nationwide audience.

Under director Rodrigo Ferro, the contest emphasises representativity and social impact. Candidates now showcase leadership, communication and community projects in education, health, sustainability and inclusion. Ferro highlighted a recent immersive camp for the 33 contestants that focused on personal development and purpose‑driven messaging.

Former titleholders were recalled, from Ieda Maria Vargas’s 1963 Miss Universe win to Martha Vasconcellos’s repeat in 1968 and Deise Nunes becoming the first Black Miss Brasil in 1986. Natália Guimarães, Vice‑Miss Universe 2007, reflected on the evolution: “É emocionante perceber que já se passaram quase 20 anos desde a minha participação no Miss Brasil e no Miss Universo. Quando olho para trás, vejo que os concursos evoluíram muito e hoje representam algo muito maior do que a beleza.” The organisation positions the pageant as a platform for women to champion causes and inspire future generations.
