Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry sues Miss Universe Organization

Gabrielle Henry, representing Jamaica at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, has filed a negligence lawsuit against the Miss Universe Organization and its related entities, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA Inc. The legal action was filed in the Delaware Superior Court following a severe accident during the preliminary competition held in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 19, 2025.

Henry, who is also a medical doctor, alleges that she fell approximately 1.5 meters through an unmarked and uncovered opening in the stage while performing her evening gown walk. The lawsuit claims that the stage lacked proper signage, barriers, or protective covers, and that intense lighting hindered visibility. The fall resulted in a traumatic brain injury, including intracranial hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage, as well as facial lacerations and fractures.

The accident caused Henry to lose consciousness and required several weeks of hospitalization in Asia followed by a lengthy neurological and physical rehabilitation process. Henry stated that the injuries have permanently altered her life, impacting her ability to complete her medical residency in ophthalmology. The lawsuit includes five counts: negligence, premises liability, negligent hiring, supervision, and intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress.
