Houthi rebels attack Al-Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden

Houthi rebels launched a significant missile and drone attack on the Al-Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden, Yemen, on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The strike, which involved at least five ballistic missiles, targeted what the Houthis claimed was a Saudi-led military operations center.

The attack resulted in at least five deaths and 16 injuries, including security personnel and civilian employees. Despite the strike occurring while several government officials were present, Yemeni Minister of Information Moammar al-Eryani confirmed that Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zandani and his cabinet members were unharmed.

The UN Security Council condemned the escalation, calling for practical cooperation with the internationally recognized Yemeni government to prevent the flow of military supplies to the Houthis. The council also reaffirmed its support for the unity and sovereignty of Yemen and condemned ongoing Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabian civilian infrastructure and aviation, including recent strikes on King Khalid International Airport.

This incident marks a notable escalation in the conflict, as the presidential palace has not been targeted in this manner since the recent resumption of hostilities. The Yemeni government has vowed to continue its efforts to restore state institutions and end the coup.
