Kuhestak airstrike kills five civilians during Iranian wedding
A U.S. airstrike in Kuhestak, located in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province near the Strait of Hormuz, has resulted in significant civilian casualties. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the strike killed at least five people, including a 4-year-old boy and a 16-year-old, and injured more than 60 others.
Witnesses and local residents report that the strike hit a home where a wedding celebration was taking place. The blast caused extensive damage to residential structures and a nearby communication tower. Local residents expressed outrage, stating the target had no military connection.
U.S. Central Command acknowledged reports of civilian casualties and stated it is conducting an internal investigation. Military officials asserted that the strike was intended to hit military targets, such as communication infrastructure, and maintained that U.S. forces do not intentionally target civilians. Vice President J.D. Vance commented that while the U.S. does not target civilians, 'sometimes things happen,' while expressing skepticism regarding Iranian reports.
