Missing 10-year-old boy taken by father in Alagoas

Authorities and family members are searching for 10-year-old Antônio Medeiros Costa, who was taken by his father without maternal authorization in Colônia Leopoldina, Alagoas, on September 5.

The father reportedly intercepted the child while he was on his way to a catechism meeting. Although the father sent a message stating he would return the boy after the September 7 holiday, all communication has since ceased, and the child's phone has been turned off.

Local authorities suspect the father and child may have crossed the border into the neighboring state of Sergipe. The father reportedly has a police record involving alleged cattle fraud in Sergipe. The disappearance has been officially reported to the Civil Police, and the Missing Persons Location and Identification Program (Plid/AL) has issued an alert. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Military Police via 190, the Disque-Denúncia via 181, or the Colônia Leopoldina Municipal Guard.
