Missing 20-year-old Berliner in Werbellinsee search continues

On the afternoon of 13 July 2026, a 20‑year‑old man from Berlin was on a pedal‑boat with a companion on the Werbellinsee near Altenhof in the Barnim district. He entered the water to swim around 16:35 and shortly thereafter sank, failing to surface.

Police launched a large‑scale search involving water‑protection police boats, volunteer fire‑brigade vessels, rescue and police helicopters, as well as sonar, echo‑sounder equipment and an underwater drone. The operation remains ongoing, and the missing man has not yet been found.
