Mexican authorities locate missing teenager in Sonora

A 16-year-old teenager, who had been missing from Hermosillo since July 4, 2026, has been located in Cajeme, Sonora. The discovery occurred on October 21, 2026, during a patrol by the Secretariat of National Defense (DEFENSA).

During the intervention in the Casa Real neighborhood, military personnel observed the teenager and another 15-year-old allegedly exchanging plastic wrappers for cash with an individual on a motorcycle. Upon noticing the military presence, the two adolescents attempted to flee on foot. Following a preventive inspection, authorities reportedly found marijuana, crystal, and cash in their possession.

The Sonora Attorney General's Office stated that investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances surrounding the minor's disappearance and subsequent location, while maintaining the principles of the presumption of innocence and the best interests of the child.
