Missing Jalisco teenager located alive in Michoacán

Carlos Humberto, a 14-year-old adolescent who disappeared from Zapopan, Jalisco, on July 17, has been located alive in the municipality of Coalcomán, Michoacán. The recovery was made possible through coordinated efforts between the prosecutor's offices of Jalisco and Michoacán. Following his discovery, he will be transferred back to Jalisco for medical protocols and family reintegration.

Carlos Humberto was one of seven teenagers reported missing between July 15 and 17 across various municipalities in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, including Zapopan, Tlajomulco, Tonalá, and El Salto. While he has been found, the other six adolescents remain missing. Families have organized protests and mobilizations, expressing concerns that the youths may have been lured via social media through false job offers.

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office reported 26 cases of missing minors during July. Authorities are investigating potential recruitment schemes; in one instance, an adolescent was charged with human trafficking after allegedly contacting a minor via social media with illicit intent. While families suspect a connection between the disappearances, the Vice Prosecutor stated that cases are being investigated independently as there is currently insufficient evidence to prove the missing adolescents were traveling together or are related.
