Missing Kaohsiung businessman rescued from Pingtung hillside

A 36-year-old businessman from Kaohsiung, identified by the surname Xin, has been rescued after being missing for three days. Xin, a vice president of an import company, went missing on August 13 after leaving in a white Mercedes-Benz.

Following a report from Kaohsiung police, investigators used mobile phone positioning to locate Xin's vehicle at the Dimen Art Park in Pingtung County. The car was found parked crookedly in a parking lot with the keys and phone left inside. Concerned relatives had even offered a 1 million TWD reward for his safe return.

On the morning of August 15, search teams utilizing drones located Xin approximately one kilometer from a local farm road. He was found at the bottom of a slope, roughly 50 meters below the top. Rescuers used ropes to descend the embankment and bring him to safety.

Xin was conscious but sustained multiple abrasions and lacerations to his limbs. He was transported to Longquan Veterans Hospital for treatment. While Xin and his associates suggested the incident was a hiking accident, authorities noted inconsistencies, such as the fact that he was reportedly wearing formal attire and leather shoes, and had left his mobile phone in the vehicle.
