Zapopan: Medical student Karla Margarita Pérez Jiménez found dead; suspect arrested

Karla Margarita Pérez Jiménez, a 22-year-old medical student originally from Irapuato, Guanajuato, was found dead in a field in Zapopan, Jalisco. She had been reported missing on September 14 after being last seen in the Prados Vallarta area. Her body was discovered on September 16 in a field near Camino a Nextipac and Avenida CUCBA, showing signs of violence. Authorities have opened an investigation under the feminicide protocol.

Following the discovery, Eduardo Isaac “N” was arrested in Tala, Jalisco, and identified as the alleged perpetrator. Investigators believe the suspect provided private transportation via a digital platform on a motorcycle. A burned motorcycle was also found near the victim's body, and authorities are analyzing her cell phone to reconstruct her final movements.

The case has prompted significant local reactions, including protests in Irapuato and student demonstrations at the University of Guadalajara's CUCBA campus, demanding increased security and justice. The Mayor of Irapuato is coordinating with prosecutors in both Guanajuato and Jalisco to support the victim's family.
