Missing Ponce fisherman Eusebio Mangual Pérez still unlocated

Eusebio Mangual Pérez, a 63‑year‑old fisherman from the Villa Pesquera of La Playa in Ponce, disappeared on Saturday, 18 July, after leaving for a trip to the “Carrusazo” area near Salinas at around 4:00 p.m. He was last heard from at 7:19 p.m. when he told his wife he was near the island of Caja Muertos.

Search efforts included nearby boats, a coast‑line sweep between Ponce and Santa Isabel, and a helicopter deployment, but no trace of Mangual Pérez or his 18‑foot white vessel was found. The boat lacked an anchor, the lifesaving equipment remained at home, and weather forecasts had warned of strong winds and heavy surf. A container with his licence, vessel documents and a fuel can was recovered, but the fisherman remains missing.
