Missing Turkish Man Okan Akşit Sought After Disappearing in Georgia

Aysel Kılıç, a 66‑year‑old resident of Bolu, Turkey, has been searching for her son Okan Akşit, 32, who left home in May and travelled to Georgia. According to Kılıç, Akşit last contacted her on 24 July from Batumi, saying he was in trouble and pleading, “Mother, help me.”

Since that call, Kılıç reports no further communication and does not know whether her son is alive or dead. She says he had health problems, had argued with his brother, and intended to meet a friend in Adana before crossing the border. Kılıç has appealed to Turkish authorities for assistance in locating him, but she says she has received no response from the agencies she approached.
