Missing Ukrainian woman located in Mexico after year-long disappearance

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office announced that Ganna Kovrizhynkh, a 38-year-old Ukrainian woman reported missing in Southern California over a year ago, has likely voluntarily crossed into Mexico.

Investigators successfully made contact with Kovrizhynkh on August 7 and verified her identity. She is reported to be staying in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Kovrizhynkh had originally vanished last July while on a cross-country road trip from Florida to California. Her vehicle and trailer were previously discovered unattended in Potrero, north of the border.

The sheriff’s office has notified the Embassy of Ukraine regarding her whereabouts. The circumstances surrounding her decision to enter Mexico remain unclear.
