Mission Foods to close Pueblo, Colorado tortilla factory
Mission Foods, a subsidiary of the Mexican corporation Gruma S.A., has announced the permanent closure of its tortilla-production facility in Pueblo, Colorado. The closure is expected to result in approximately 90 layoffs.
According to a filing with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, the facility at 2110 Santa Fe Drive will cease operations on October 13, 2026, with all employee separations completed by October 27, 2026.
Representatives from the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 7 criticized the decision, alleging that the closure resulted from years of chronic underinvestment in the plant. Union President Kim Cordova stated that the move prioritizes profit over the well-being of the workers and the Pueblo community.
