Missionary Italo Iotti to be honored in Albinea funeral
Funeral services for Father Italo Iotti, a missionary of the White Fathers, will be held tomorrow at 11:00 AM at the San Gaetano church in Albinea, Italy. Iotti passed away at the age of 86 in Treviglio, Bergamo.
Born in Correggio in 1940, Iotti served as a missionary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1979 to 2021. During his tenure, he was instrumental in establishing the ‘Pact of Friendship’ between the municipality of Albinea and the Kisenso-Kinshasa district in 2002. His work in Congo included overseeing projects for water wells and the construction of primary and secondary schools.
Iotti’s missionary experience included serving in the Ubundu region during the Rwandan refugee crisis. He frequently returned to Albinea for several months every three years to engage with local youth and community groups.
