Mississippi authorities arrest three in child enticement operation
Three men have been arrested as part of ‘Operation Muddy Waters’, a joint law enforcement initiative targeting the enticement of minors for sexual purposes. The operation involves a collaboration between Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, and the Oxford Police Department, alongside other federal, state, and local agencies.
The arrested individuals include Dennis Cooper, 68, of Oxford; Cristian Abel Giron Argueta, 29, of Memphis; and Oseas Neftali Laynez-Gonzalez, 33, of Rossville, Tennessee. All three face charges related to the enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes and have been booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center.
Authorities stated that more than 60 people have been arrested as part of this ongoing operation. While some suspects reportedly hold positions of trust, such as teachers or firefighters, no names have been released for those specific individuals. The Oxford Police Department clarified that no minors were exploited during the course of this specific operation and urged parents to discuss online safety with their children.
