Mississippi Export Railroad officials tour regional freight lines
Federal Railroad Administration Administrator David Fink, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, and Representative Mike Ezell conducted a tour of the Mississippi Export Railroad (MSE) on October 7. The tour, part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Economic Railroad Tour, included rail and port managers, local government officials, and economic development representatives.
Operating between Pascagoula and Evanston, MSE serves as a critical link between the Gulf Coast ports and the broader North American rail network. By connecting the east-west lines of Canadian National and CSX Transportation, MSE facilitates north-south freight movement. The network provides access to various major carriers, including Norfolk Southern via Mobile, Alabama, and Canadian Pacific Kansas City through Jackson.
Through its subsidiary, the Alabama Export Railroad, MSE also enhances cargo transfer efficiency at the port in Mobile. These strategic connections support vital shipping, manufacturing, and energy sectors by integrating local industries into the national supply chain and reducing transit times.
