Missão party elects only two candidates in electoral debut

The Missão party, born from the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), secured only two elected positions in its electoral debut. Both winners are located in São Paulo: Kim Kataguiri was re-elected as a federal deputy with over 520,000 votes, and Rafa Minato was elected as a state deputy with over 185,000 votes.

Despite fielding more than 500 candidates nationwide, the party failed to elect senators or governors. Presidential candidate Renan Santos finished in fourth place with approximately 2.67 million votes, representing 2.24% of valid votes, a result that fell below the party's expectations.

Due to these results, Missão failed to meet the electoral performance clause requirements. While the party remains registered and its elected officials will assume their mandates, it will lose access to the Party Fund and free radio and television advertising.

In a related development, Kim Kataguiri had previously challenged himself to resign his mandate if Renan Santos's Datafolha polling showed 3% in the presidential race.
