Missoula County authorities seek tips in 30-year-old murder cold case

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit is seeking public assistance regarding the 30-year-old unsolved murder of Clifford Lee Nelson. Nelson, a former Montana ‘Teacher of the Year,’ was killed by gunfire in his Seeley Lake home on September 30, 1996.

Despite extensive investigations and a review of three decades of documentation, authorities state that no new leads have emerged. Investigators are urging community members to provide any information that might assist in solving the case. Tips provided through Five Valley Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
