Missoula court proceedings begin for alleged international jewel thief

Marioara Munteanu, a 44-year-old Romanian woman described by prosecutors as an alleged international jewel thief, appeared in Missoula County District Court following her apprehension on a warrant.

Munteanu is facing a charge of felony theft related to the alleged theft of a diamond valued at approximately $28,000 from a jewelry store in Missoula’s Southgate Mall in 2022. Reports indicate she is accused of stealing items across multiple U.S. states and various foreign countries.
