Missoula Police Officer assaulted by intoxicated man

On August 22, 2026, a Missoula Police Department officer was involved in a physical altercation with an intoxicated man identified as 43-year-old Randall Tatsey in the 200 block of N. Travois.

Responding to reports of a belligerent individual damaging a vehicle, the officer attempted to command Tatsey to sit on the ground. According to reports, Tatsey ignored commands and charged at the officer. During the ensuing struggle, the officer used strikes to the man's face to dissuade him from resisting. During the confrontation, Tatsey managed to swing his fist, making contact with the right side of the officer's lip.
