Missouri American Water acquires Neosho water and wastewater systems

Missouri American Water has completed the acquisition of the City of Neosho’s water and wastewater systems for $34.5 million. The transaction, which was approved by the Neosho City Council and the Missouri Public Service Commission, adds approximately 5,400 water and 5,400 wastewater customers to the company’s portfolio.

As part of the agreement, Missouri American Water plans to invest approximately $35 million in the Neosho systems over the next five years. These planned infrastructure upgrades include facility improvements, the replacement of water and wastewater mains, and the identification and replacement of all lead and galvanized steel service lines. The company also intends to integrate new technology for leak detection and ensure wastewater treatment compliance with state and federal standards.

The acquisition includes the transition of 25 existing utility employees to Missouri American Water to maintain operational continuity.
