Missouri Attorney General Announces Guilty Verdict in Taney County Double Murder

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced that a Taney County jury found Miguel Melendez Torres guilty of two counts of second‑degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and two counts of first‑degree attempted robbery for the 2021 robbery‑related shooting that killed Rocky McMahan and Krystle Buhl.

The verdict, delivered on July 23 2026, concluded a multi‑agency investigation led by the Branson Police Department with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Attorney General’s Office. Prosecutors emphasized that the conviction demonstrates the state’s commitment to prosecuting violent crime.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 6 2026 at the Taney County Courthouse in Forsyth.
