Missouri Department of Conservation offers native seedlings for sale

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering low-cost native tree and shrub seedlings through the George O. White State Forest Nursery. The seedlings are intended for various uses, including reforestation, erosion control, windbreaks, and improving wildlife habitats.

Online orders can be placed from September 1 through April 15, 2027. The nursery primarily provides one-year-old, bare-root seedlings in a wide variety of species, such as oak, pine, maple, black walnut, and various shrubs like elderberry and redbud. Prices range from 44 cents to $2.75 per seedling, with orders available in bundles of 10 or increments of 25.

Forest Nursery Supervisor Mike Fiaoni noted that popular species often sell out quickly. Customers may still place orders for sold-out items in anticipation of cancellations. Seedlings can be shipped or picked up near Licking from mid-February through mid-May.
