Missouri DOT announces extensive road closures across the state

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has issued a series of highway maintenance and construction schedules affecting north, central and mid‑Missouri. Projects slated for the week of Aug. 10‑16 2026 include resurfacing of Route J in Andrew County, Highway 136 in Atchison County, and a bridge maintenance program on Highway 36 in Caldwell County, with lane reductions, one‑lane traffic and flagger control in place. Contractors such as Emery Sapp & Sons, Herzog Contracting Corp and others are involved, and work may be delayed by weather.

Additional road closures and traffic changes have been announced for Boone and Callaway counties. I‑70 will shift eastbound traffic into a newly paved median, reducing lanes to a 10‑foot width and lowering the speed limit to 55 mph, while exits 144 and 148 will have limited access for several months. The St. Charles Road Bridge is slated to reopen after demolition, and Route H west of Fulton will be closed for bridge‑deck replacement. These disruptions are expected to continue into early 2027 in some areas.
