Missouri men face federal charges for child pornography and AI-generated abuse

Two Missouri men face federal consequences for separate crimes involving child pornography.

Jeremy Koppenhaver, 46, of Springfield, was sentenced to more than 12.5 years in prison followed by 25 years of supervised release. Koppenhaver was convicted of receiving child pornography and producing obscene AI-generated images of children. Investigators found that he used AI to create images depicting female celebrities as children being sexually abused and used photo-editing software to transform nude images of himself into images depicting nude girls.

Carter Anderson, 32, of Belton, has pleaded guilty to several federal offenses, including the production, transportation, and possession of child pornography, as well as the cyberstalking of a minor. Between October 2021 and January 2025, Anderson used Snapchat to contact a minor and subsequently used threats of public distribution to coerce the victim into sending increasingly graphic explicit material. Anderson faces a maximum combined sentence of 70 years in federal prison.
