Missouri neurosurgeon sentenced to prison for sexual assault in Scotland
Camilo Molina, a 40-year-old neurosurgeon and former Washington University associate professor, has been sentenced to two years in prison following a sexual assault conviction in Glasgow, Scotland.
The incident occurred on April 5, 2025, at Kong, a nightclub located in Royal Exchange Square. Prosecutors stated that Molina, a U.S. citizen originally from Colombia, approached a 20-year-old woman from behind and touched her inappropriately under her skirt. During the proceedings, prosecutors alleged that Molina initially pretended to be a police officer to approach the victim, a claim he denied in court.
Molina was in Glasgow to attend a conference at the time of the attack. His defense attorney noted that the incident occurred after several hours of drinking and highlighted Molina’s professional history as a specialist in spine diseases and a leader in augmented reality-mediated spine procedures. This was noted as his first criminal offense.
