Missouri rice industry conducts food donation and international trade mission
Missouri rice producers have donated 12,300 pounds of rice to the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, a contribution estimated to provide more than 10,000 meals for regional families. The donation was made by Heritage Farms, Inland Rice, Martin Farms, and Riceland during the food bank’s Harvesting Hope event, which coincided with the start of Hunger Action Month.
In a separate development regarding the industry, a USA Rice trade mission recently hosted five Central American retailers and importers for a tour of Missouri and Arkansas. The mission aimed to demonstrate the quality and innovation of U.S.-grown rice. Participants visited major industry users, including Nestlé Purina and Anheuser-Busch, and toured various rice farms and mills to observe the harvest and production processes firsthand.
