Missouri River Flood Outlook Lifted in Napoleon as Rainfall Forecasts Ease

The National Weather Service in Kansas City lifted the hydrologic outlook for the Missouri River at Napoleon on June 12 after updated models showed lower rainfall totals, removing the previously forecast flood threat. Officials said the river no longer poses a flooding risk for the Napoleon area and residents can resume normal activities, though the service will continue to monitor river levels throughout the season.

Separately, the NWS issued a Flood Warning for the Blackwater River at Valley City, affecting Johnson and Pettis Counties. Minor flooding was expected, with water predicted to rise above the 22‑foot flood stage to a crest of 24.9 feet before receding later in the day. Roads near County Highway E and Highway 23 were warned to be under water, and motorists were advised to avoid flooded areas.
