Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins faces whistleblower lawsuit

Nicholas La Strada, Missouri’s former director of election integrity, has filed a whistleblower lawsuit against Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins. La Strada, a former Pettis County clerk, alleges he was terminated after raising concerns regarding the integrity of the state’s voter database and potential attempts to deceive a federal judge by filing a fake complaint.

The lawsuit further claims that Hoskins’ office illegally directed local officials to alter the results of a city council race and misused state funds for politically motivated mailings intended to influence a St. Louis County ballot measure. La Strada also alleges he was stripped of administrative access to the state’s voter registration system following his internal reports.

A spokesperson for Hoskins stated that the office “will not be able to comment on pending litigation involving a personnel matter.” This legal action follows recent scrutiny of Hoskins, who was recently found in temporary contempt by the state Supreme Court regarding congressional redistricting disputes.
