Missouri voters will decide on four statewide ballot measures in the August 2026 election.

Amendment 1 seeks to reauthorize a one‑tenth of one percent sales and use tax that funds soil and water conservation, state parks and historic sites. The tax, in place since the 1980s, generates about $140 million annually and would continue for another ten years without changing overall tax rates.

Amendment 2 would require all charter counties, including Jackson County, to elect a county assessor and have assessors comply with any training requirements set by state law. The amendment applies only to charter counties, of which none are in mid‑Missouri, and is projected to have no fiscal impact.

Amendment 4 proposes to alter the initiative‑petition process by requiring a majority vote in each congressional district, rather than a simple statewide majority, for constitutional amendments passed by citizen initiatives. State agencies estimate modest additional costs for implementation.

Separately, campaign‑finance filings show organized opposition to Amendment 4, with groups such as Missourians for Fair Governance and the Missouri Association of REALTORS contributing funds to campaign against the measure.
