Mister Donut reopens in Shanghai with goal of 30 stores
Mister Donut has reopened in Shanghai, China, marking its return to the market seven years after withdrawing in 2019 due to intense competition. The new location is a takeout-only shop situated in the Global Harbor shopping complex in the Putuo District.
Operated through a franchise agreement with Shanghai Meitian Tian Brand Management Co., Ltd., this is the first store in the East China region, covering Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong provinces. The shop offers 25 items, including the popular ‘Pon de Ring’, alongside Shanghai-exclusive products such as ‘Pon de Banana’ and ‘Sugar Puff’. On its opening day, the shop reported sales of approximately 6,700 units, with customers facing wait times of up to four hours.
Duskin officials stated that current market conditions in China are now favorable for the brand's success. The franchise aims to open a second location in the Meiluo City commercial facility by December 2026, with a long-term goal of reaching a total of 30 stores by the end of 2029.
