Misteri d'Elx implements heat mitigation measures

Organizers of the Misteri d'Elx are implementing measures to combat rising temperatures during performances in the Santa Maria Basilica. To improve the well-being of participants and staff, the Patronato has approved a budget to replace the current lighting system with LED technology, which generates less heat than the existing old installation.

Immediate steps taken this year include opening the basilica's doors, windows, and stained glass to improve air circulation, as well as installing fans throughout the venue. Looking ahead, officials are studying further adjustments, such as lightening the traditional costumes worn by performers to help mitigate the heat.
