MIT and Imperial College London lead QS World University Rankings 2027

The QS World University Rankings 2027, published by Quacquarelli Symonds of the United Kingdom, placed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at number 1 for a tenth consecutive year, with Imperial College London in second place. Other institutions in the top ten include Stanford University, University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, California Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich, UCL and the National University of Singapore. Brazil’s University of São Paulo fell to 133rd place, its lowest position since the previous edition, while the University of Buenos Aires remains the highest‑ranked Latin American university.

In a related QS study, the organization ranked the world’s best cities for students. The list highlighted Zurich, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Sydney, Munich, Melbourne, London, Tokyo and Seoul, noting factors such as student satisfaction, diversity, academic offerings and affordability. São Paulo rose one spot compared with the previous ranking.
