MIT warns of need for educational reform due to generative AI

The institution posits that traditional methods of assessment, such as essays and homework, must be redesigned because AI can now produce structured dissertations, code, and complex analyses in seconds. This shift challenges educators to redefine what is being measured when a student submits work—whether it is their own mastery of a subject or merely their ability to prompt an AI effectively.
